Insomnia is a maj or problem that plenty of people have faced from time to time. I?ve even had my share of insomnia and I can tell you from first-hand experience of how treacherous it can be to the day after. Many people become cranky and irritable and also many automobile-related accidents have been caused by those who simply did not get enough sleep the night before they were on the road. There are three major causes for insomnia and they are psychological, physical, or short/temporary causes.
Psychological causes are some of the major reasons for insomnia. Those who suffer from insomnia may have some anxiety or stress issues. Anxiety is when an individual may have feelings of tension, uncertainty, fear, or helplessness. This relates to how your current problems affect you. This relates to stress as well, because stress is how you cope with said problems. Dealing with these problems brings about a change to the way that you may think about certain things. This is why it is important to seek counseling if this becomes a major problem.

Insomnia No More!
It’s that time of the year where we can get so crazy busy that our minds just won’t stop. Of course, this can cause major issues when we are trying to rest or sleep at night.
Sleep disorders manifest themselves in a number of ways. Our minds and thoughts can get out of control and keep us awake or there may be something going on with our internal system that needs medical attention. Sometimes these sleep issues can come and go or on some occasions sleep deprivation just continues on and on. Being unable to sleep can be a symptom of bigger problems. Prescription sleep aids are sometimes needed, although in some cases lifestyle changes can make all the difference. This is why it’s very important to try to narrow down what is causing sleep problems, and to rule out any medical conditions such as sleep apnea, seeking medical treatment or prescription sleep aids if necessary.
In cases of mild or occasional sleep loss, relatively easy lifestyle changes can often be made. This is usually a case of trial and error. For instance, some people find music relaxing and sleep inducinganything from quiet jazz to a thunderstorm noises CD. But there are others who find any noise, let alone music, distracting and bothersome when trying to sleep. The same thing goes for light, TV, style of bed or bedding, and sleeping in a bed with someone else. Start addressing your insomnia during pregnancy as soon as it becomes an issue. Your solutions will be different depending on the stage. In the first trimester and part of the second trimester, pregnancy insomnia is generally caused by hormones and morning sickness (which can happen any time of the day, not just in the morning!)
